How to get a video call link
You need one link that you can reuse for every session. It is free, and it takes about five minutes. Choose whichever service you already use, or Google Meet if you are unsure.
Tip: learners may see your account's name and email. Use a separate free account for Kindly Curious (for example rose.volunteer@gmail.com), named with your first name only.
Google Meet
- Sign in to your Google account (or create a free one).
- Go to meet.google.com and click New meeting.
- Choose Create a meeting for later.
- Copy the link it shows you. It looks like https://meet.google.com/abc-defg-hij.
Zoom
- Sign in at zoom.us (or create a free account).
- Go to Profile and find your Personal Meeting ID link, or schedule a recurring meeting.
- Copy the link. It starts with https:// and includes zoom.us.
Free Zoom meetings can have a time limit, so check yours is long enough for your sessions.
Microsoft Teams
- Open Teams and sign in.
- Go to Meet or Calendar and create a meeting link.
- Copy the link. It includes teams.microsoft.com or teams.live.com.
Then
- On Kindly Curious, go to My profile, then Edit my profile.
- Paste the link into Your video call link and save.
We will test it with you on your welcome call. Learners only see your link once a call time is confirmed.
Good habits
- Show your first name only on calls. You can usually change your display name in the app's settings.
- If your service has a waiting room, turn it on, so that you can admit people yourself.
- Never share your password or sign-in codes with anyone.
The steps above can change when these services update their apps. If you need help, please ask us during your welcome call.
